John Hibbs is the Chairman & Founder of The Hibbs Lupus Trust.
John’s sister, Viki, was diagnosed with Lupus in 2008 and in a bid to support her he decided to run the 2010 Virgin London Marathon. Despite his ‘dodgy knees’ he also completed the 2010 Great North Run, the 2011 London Marathon & will complete a second Great North Run in 2012!
In October 2011 John founded The Hibbs Lupus Trust to raise the profile of lupus and to support patients in his local community. Working with the Mid Staffordshire NHS Trust Foundation the charity is already actively involved in the community and has received fantastic support from local businesses as well as celebrity endorsement from Sarah Brown, Beverley Knight and Stephen Fry.
Viki Hibbs is a Trustee & Founder of The Hibbs Lupus Trust.
Viki was diagnosed with lupus in 2008 aged 25.
Viki now manages her illness with medication and regular visits to Cannock hospital. She has not let lupus beat her and instead has set up her own beauty business in Hednesford, since being diagnosed.
Viki is an advocate for patients and is more than happy to speak with fellow patients and share her experiences.
Kate Hibbs is a Director of The Hibbs Lupus Trust.
Kate has run the London marathon on two occasions in 2010 and 2011 alongside her husband, John.
Kate seeks to raise the profile of lupus by organising events large or small to also generate funds for the trust.
Kate deals mainly with the administration of the charity.
Carol Hibbs is the Secretary of The Hibbs Lupus Trust.
Stephen Hibbs is a Trustee of The Hibbs Lupus Trust.
Michelle Smith is a Trustee of The Hibbs Lupus Trust.
Michelle was initially diagnosed in 2009 with Rheumatoid Arthritis and Sjögren’s Syndrome at the age of 37. However as her symptoms became more apparent and the prescribed medication started to conflict and cause unexpected side effects the specialist became more and more suspicious of lupus being present.
Michelle now manages her illness with medication and regular visits to Cannock Chase Hospital. She works full time and her spare time is spent raising awareness for the trust.
