Legacy Giving

Making a Will is a relatively simple task which will help to protect your family by clearly stating your wishes as to how you would like your estate to be distributed.

People of any age ought to consider making a Will, irrespective of their health or family circumstances. Dying intestate; without having made a Will can cause legal and tax problems for the person or people administering your estate. This uncertainty may cause unnecessary upheaval for your friends and loved ones during a difficult time.

People often use their Wills to leave a gift or legacy to their favourite charity. Any gift or legacy left to a registered charity is also free from Inheritance and Capital Gains Tax.

A gift to a charity such as ours is taken out of the estate before inheritance tax is assessed, so by including us in your Will you can both reduce or avoid tax and know that you will be helping to save lives after your death with the money bequeathed.

There are a number of ways to support The Hibbs Lupus Trust in your Will:

  • Make Residual Bequest:

You can leave the residue of your estate to The Hibbs Lupus Trust, whereby all that is remaining in your estate after other bequests, debts and charges is passed to the Charity.

  • Make a Pecuniary Bequest:

You can name a specific amount of money to be paid once your estate is settled.

  • Make a Gift in Kind:

You can leave a gift of property, shares or any other item you wish to the Charity.

  • Family Flowers only:

An alternative to leaving a gift in your Will is to ask mourners to make an ‘In Memorium’ donation to The Hibbs Lupus Trust in lieu of flowers.

How can I make a gift?

Making or changing a Will is relatively easy but we strongly recommend that you consult a solicitor so that you can be sure your Will states your clear intentions.
