The Cannock store has hosted information stands to highlight the effects of lupus and the work of the charity along with bag packing events where volunteers from the Trust have been able to help customers whilst sharing knowledge about the charity.  In store, the staff have been busy supporting us too as departments were challenged to raise funds.  The checkouts have been host to the Hibbs Lupus Trust collection buckets whilst the information desk has offered our jute shopping bags for sale.  As well as the opportunity to raise funds, an information board was maintained by the staff at the store which helped promote other events held by the Trust.

We are incredibly grateful to the management team and staff Sainsbury’s Cannock for their commitment and effort in supporting us.

We’d also like to pay a special tribute to the customers at the Cannock Store for their support and generosity.  

The donation received will be used towards purchasing equipment for use at Cannock and Stafford hospitals to aid the early diagnosis of lupus and other connective tissues diseases.

With over 100 guests, The Fashion Factory helped to raise awareness of lupus and the work of The Hibbs Lupus Trust. An array of ladies and gent’s fashions were displayed for the audience to enjoy. Miss Galaxy Wales 2013 even joined in by modeling some of the latest trends available in store. Guests were treated to a brilliant evening of hilarity and entertainment from Emma B; shopping; canapés and even a glass of bubbly!

Thank you to the Fashion Factory for choosing The Hibbs Lupus Trust as their designated charity. The time and efforts to arrange such an event are greatly appreciated. Having a forum to share knowledge about lupus and its effects as well as the work that the trust do is invaluable.

The project gives everyone the opportunity to easily get involved in raising awareness of lupus by raising their right hand in the shape on an L.

Celebrities including Chris Martin of Coldplay and Kelly Rowland of Destiny’s Child are but a few of those who have already made the L sign.

The Love Life Love Running Festival is a unique event in the running calender offering runners a weekend of running, stunning scenery, live music and great value for money.

The date of this year’s festival is Saturday 20th – Sunday 21st July.

The running festival is a great opportunity to spend a weekend with family and friends with the chance to complete two fantastic races and the charity mile:

• The Charity Mile, Saturday 12pm: Help support The Hibbs Lupus Trust & take part in The Charity Mile with friends & family.

• The 10k, Saturday 1pm: A modern take on the classic distance. The route takes you through the heart of the forest incorporating the stunning scenery with a course that’s challenging yet very achievable. The weekend is for every runner…Fast or slow you are welcome. Once you have put the first half of the course behind you we have a hydration station with a difference – you can hear it coming!! Forget run to the beat…Run for the water! Our DJ in the woods plays your favorite tracks to inspire you to the finish! A lovely little medal and goody bag will be waiting for you on your return! Oh and don’t forget to make use of the free showers at the end.

• The 6 hour Challenge, Sunday 10am: Don’t let the title put you off…this is a race for everyone. Solo’s and teams of two; four and six compete to complete as many laps of the 7km route as they can in the 6 hours. So if you wanted to take it easy then enter a team of six with your mates…Take an hour to do a lap each and your done…Remember the challenge is as hard as you want to make it. Of course if you wanted to take it seriously then we have plenty of those teams looking to smash the course record of 13 laps.

Volunteers needed! If running isn’t your thing, then you can still support us! We need volunteers to help marshall The Charity Mile on Saturday. If you can spare an hour, please get in touch!

Dr Chalam will also give details of the equipment to be purchased with money donated from The Hibbs Lupus Trust.

This is a great opportunity for people living with lupus to meet and share experiences with others in a similar situation.
