The Big Bird 5K is back — and registration for 2026 is officially open.
On Sunday 22 November 2026, we’ll be returning to East Park, Wolverhampton, for one of the most enjoyable and unique events in The Hibbs Lupus Trust calendar.
And this year, we’d love to see as many people affected by lupus as possible coming together to be part of it.
More than a 5K
The Big Bird 5K has always been about much more than crossing a finish line.
It’s an opportunity to bring together people living with lupus, their families, friends and supporters for a morning filled with encouragement, conversation and community.
You can run, jog or walk the 5K at your own pace. There’s no pressure and no need to chase a time — simply come along and take part in a way that works for you.
We also know that, for many people living with lupus, completing a 5K simply won’t be possible.
You don’t have to take part in the 5K to be part of the day.
We’d love you to come along to cheer on the participants, meet other people affected by lupus, volunteer with us or simply enjoy the atmosphere.
However you join us, you’ll be very welcome.

Location: East Park, Wolverhampton, WV1 2BS
Entry: £15 per person
Check-in and number collection: From 8:30am
Event briefing: 9:45am
Warm-up: 9:50am
5K starts: 10:00am
And, of course, the Big Bird tradition continues.
Every participant who crosses the finish line will receive their very own frozen turkey, generously donated by Avara Foods.

Bringing the lupus community together
Living with lupus can sometimes feel isolating. Events like the Big Bird 5K give us an opportunity to change that, even if only for a morning.
Whether you’re newly diagnosed, have lived with lupus for many years, support somebody with the condition or simply want to stand alongside the lupus community, we’d love to see you there.
Run it. Walk it. Jog it. Cheer it. Volunteer.
Just come and be part of it.
Bring your family, bring your friends and help us fill East Park with people coming together for lupus.
