Keeping it legal
Contact us if you are thinking of organising a bucket collection and we’ll send you some official buckets with security seals. If you plan to hold a bucket collection on behalf of The Hibbs Lupus Trust please do ensure you obtain permission from the owner or manager of the premises you plan to collect on. If you collect in the street or house to house you will need to obtain a licence. The Institute of Fundraising have full guidelines on their website.
Raffles and lotteries - There are different types of lotteries and raffles. Some, including those where tickets are being sold to the wider public and are available in advance of an event, for which you must obtain a licence from the local authority. There are also regulations on the information you need to provide on the tickets, who you can sell tickets to and the types of prizes. More information about running a lottery or raffle legally is available in this pdf from the Gambling Commission.
