In 2014 we we’re honoured to have been invited to become a #GivingTuesday Founding Partner and will once again be using #GivingTuesday to help raise awareness of lupus!
WHAT IS #GIVINGTUESDAY?
#GivingTuesday (1st December) is a global day of giving. After the sales of Black Friday and the online shopping boom on Cyber Monday, #GivingTuesday is an opportunity to come together to show the world why it’s good to give. Whether it’s making a donation, volunteering your time or just spreading the word at the start of the Christmas shopping season, #GivingTuesday is a call to action for everyone who wants to give something back.
#GivingTuesday has grown into a global movement, covering countries like The United States, Australia, Singapore, Canada, much of Latin America and Israel. The simple idea behind #GivingTuesday is to encourage people, charities and businesses to donate time, money or their voice to help a good cause.
We aim to use #GivingTuesday to raise greater awareness of lupus across the UK by giving people the opportunity to get involved in supporting the #LHandSign Campaign. Everyone can easily get involved in raising awareness of lupus by raising their right hand in the shape of an L and posting the image across their social media accounts such as facebook, twitter and Instagram which ultimately starts the conversation: ‘what is lupus?’.
For a charity of our size this is a wonderful opportunity to take the #LHandSign campaign to a wider audience. The result of which will see more people being aware of and having a greater understanding of lupus. Greater awareness will ultimately increase the chances of early diagnosis amongst new patients and reduce the chances of life threatening complications thereafter.
On Tuesday 10th November we’ll be attending a reception at The Houses of Parliament to celebrate Giving Tuesday and to talk about plans for the #LHandSign Campaign.
We’d love your support and can’t wait to see your #LHandSign photos! Find out how you can get involved and help The Hibbs Lupus Trust!
