UPDATE 25.01.2013 11:30 – The LUPUS5050 is ON!
Join us for a none competitive 50mile or 50km ride through the local lanes around Cannock Chase on Sunday 27th January 2013.
The Hibbs Lupus Trust 50/50 is a 50 mile or 50 km sportive brought to you by the Run & Ride Events guys in conjunction with The Hibbs Lupus Trust. Last year over 300 riders took part including Cannock Chase MP Aidan Burley and this years event promises to be bigger & better!
The event starts from outside the new Run & Ride shop and will head out following a fully signed course finishing back at the store where drinks and cake will be provided along with a raffle with some fantastic prizes.
For 2013 the event will also have an improved feed zone plus bigger and better signage.
Can you help raise money for The Hibbs Lupus Trust? It’s really easy for you to raise money for us by creating an online fundraising page on JustGiving. It takes only minutes to personalise your page, and then family & friends will be able to support you by donating on-line with a credit card or debit card. You can also download & print our LUPUS50/50 sponsor form.
Entry for the event costs £7.50 or £10.00 on the day (Same as 2012) All proceeds after costs will go to the Hibbs Lupus Trust

Following the success of last year we’ve taken the decision to move away from local village halls and opt to start and finish the sportive from Run & Ride Shop situated on the outskirts of Cannock Chase. With plenty of free car parking, toilets, spares, more secure bike storage and changing rooms available from the HQ, we hope to be able to open up the event to greater numbers than ever before. For a map and address of the store please see below.
– Free car parking (outside or overflow 100 metres away)
– Changing Room
– Sports Physio (Additional charge)
The route will focus on taking in some of the roads we love to ride ourselves. Based mainly on back roads & small lanes where we love to get away from the traffic of the busy roads. Heading out over Cannock Chase the course will be fairly hilly to start with but the remainder of the route will be easier and rolling. For 2013 we’ll be offering two options: either a 50km ride or a longer 50mile route.
9.30am – 10.30am – Once signed in, you’ll be free to start at any point. There will be main groups leaving at 15 minute intervals should you wish to join another group and ride with others
The event will start outside the new Run & Ride Store. For Sat Nav purposes use postcode WS12 0QU
Free parking will be available either outside the store or in the overflow car parks (Follow signs for Chase Cafe) situated on the estate a couple of hundred metres from the store.
Helmets must be worn at all times when riding a bike.
A suitable bike in good working order must be used. This doesn’t mean that you must use a Road bike. MTBs and Hybrid bikes are allowed too.
Be aware that the roads are not closed and are open to traffic as normal. You ride the event at your own risk and should take care as you would riding on the road like at any other time.
Registration will be open from 8.30am and situated inside the store. All entrants must sign on before they start and collect their bike tag & refreshment voucher. Entry on the day will be available. There will be course maps available at signing on for those who are new to the area. Please ensure you also pick up the emergency contact number.
Free refreshments will be available on the day. Should anybody wish to purchase something more substantial then please visit the Chase Cafe located a couple of 100 metres away.
As with previous years, we’ll be hosting a raffle after the event with some excellent prizes donated by our supporters.
Please note that no ride number or details will be sent out via post. A pre event email will be sent out two weeks before the event. All riders must sign in.
